ATLANTA — Today, the SPLC Action Fund endorsed Sam Foster in his race to serve as the next mayor of Marietta, Georgia. An IT systems engineer who first came to Marietta to attend Kennesaw State University, Foster has since become an engaged community advocate, helping to found A Better Cobb, a nonprofit dedicated to improving public transit, housing affordability and pedestrian safety. His campaign is similarly centered around creating a more livable and affordable Marietta by focusing on the development of mixed-use, walkable neighborhoods with expanded housing options for residents. If elected, Foster would be the first Black mayor of Marietta.
“Sam Foster understands that creating opportunities for the residents of Marietta to thrive economically, professionally and personally requires walking every street and identifying where investments need to be made — whether that be fixing a cracked sidewalk, adding a bike lane or redeveloping a vacant property,” said Madison Hollon, program manager of political campaigns, SPLC Action Fund. “His emphasis on improving community infrastructure can help to bring the people of Marietta the tangible changes that will make day-to-day living in their city an easier, safer and more connected experience. The SPLC Action Fund believes that Foster has the vision, the leadership, and the commitment to thoughtfully and consistently engaging with constituents to succeed as the next mayor of Marietta and grow the city into an even better place to live for all of its residents.”
