MONTGOMERY, Alabama — Today, the SPLC Action Fund proudly endorses Mobile mayoral candidate Barbara Drummond. The former Alabama state representative and Public Affairs Director for Mobile County has dedicated her life to serving citizens of Mobile by improving city services and fighting for resources for families and local businesses. Her track record includes securing $11.4 million in new state funding for Mobile County Public Schools, co-sponsoring the Alabama Literacy Act and securing $15 million for construction of Mobile’s international airport.
As mayor, Drummond will continue the good work through public service. She will prioritize opportunity, safety, and equity for all while also growing Mobile’s economy, strengthening access to health care, and investing in violence prevention responses.
“Delivering results for the people of Mobile requires more than just a vision; leaders need experience working in communities to understand which policies can make the biggest impact on residents’ lives,” said Madison Hollon, program manager of political campaigns, SPLC Action Fund. “As a lifelong Mobilian who has worked in public service for decades, Barbara Drummond understands how to navigate government to ensure her constituents get the resources that they need to thrive. The SPLC Action Fund enthusiastically supports Rep. Drummond for the mayorship of Mobile and looks forward to her continuing her fight for greater economic opportunity and improved access to health care, education and workforce development programs for every member of the Mobile community.”
