SPLC Action Fund Endorses Florida School Board Candidates in November Runoffs

MIAMI — Today, the SPLC Action Fund announced endorsements for 13 Florida school board candidates who advanced to runoff races in the November general election.

Six candidates received brand new endorsements in their races, while seven endorsees were part of the original slate of 20 school board candidates in Florida that the Action Fund backed ahead of the August elections. Ten of those candidates won outright, helping to flip the ideological makeup of school boards in Orange County and Sarasota County, where seats were previously held by members associated with Moms for Liberty.

“Momentum is on the side of candidates that have shown they care about student outcomes over political theater,” said Madison Hollon, senior program manager of political campaigns, SPLC Action Fund. “In August, Florida voters set a new direction for education in their state. And with the election of these additional 13 candidates, they can double down on the investment they made in Florida’s future by ensuring schools and classrooms remain focused on learning.”
