SPLC Action Fund Endorses Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin for Reelection

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Today, the SPLC Action Fund proudly endorsed Randall Woodfin in his campaign for reelection to serve as mayor of Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to assuming office as mayor, Woodfin, who is a native of the city, served his community in numerous capacities including in the Mayor’s Office Division of Youth Services, as an assistant city attorney and as president of the Birmingham Board of Education. During his terms, Mayor Woodfin prioritized creating pathways to economic prosperity for all of Birmingham’s residents by investing in infrastructure, education and housing, and working to improve public safety through criminal justice reform, mental health support for youth and violence reduction programs.

“Growing up in Birmingham and consistently choosing to work as a public servant in so many different roles has enabled Mayor Woodfin to understand the city’s challenges in a very personal way,” said Madison Hollon, program manager of political campaigns, SPLC Action Fund. “His approach to public safety, for example, centers around understanding how youth become involved in criminal activities and offering alternatives that can redirect their focus to the kinds of education and skills-development programs that build more prosperous communities. The SPLC Action Fund enthusiastically supports Mayor Woodfin’s bid for reelection and looks forward to watching how he continues to center his constituents’ needs in his plans to revitalize all 99 of Birmingham’s neighborhoods during his next term.”
