SPLC Action Fund Endorses Two Candidates in Florida Municipal Elections

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, the SPLC Action Fund proudly endorses city commission candidates in Broward County and Palm Beach County elections on March 11, 2025.

Endorsed candidates include:

  • Felicia Newkirk, running for Coconut Creek City Commissioner Seat E, aims to address critical issues such as affordable housing, limited assistance for small businesses and scholarships. Newkirk is a former educator with Broward County Public Schools, a case manager for the Urban League of Broward and a receptionist and behaviorial therapist at Village South.
  • Dom Vargas, running for Boynton Beach City Commission District 3, hopes to address problems of traffic, safety and public housing by prioritizing public service for all residents. Vargas has a storied career in public service, working as a grassroots organizer and at the highest levels of political advocacy.

Both candidates have demonstrated a commitment to addressing affordable housing and uplifting vital support for all community residents, aligning with SPLC Action Fund’s goals to confront harmful policies and empower the communities we serve.”
