SPLC Action Fund Calls on Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and Other Donors to Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks to Halt Contributions

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The SPLC Action Fund is calling on Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and all of the other corporations that have donated to Rep. Mo Brooks to halt any further contributions because of his role in last week’s deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, and demand that he return all of their 2019-2020 donations.

Margaret Huang, president and CEO of the SPLC Action Fund, issued the following statement:

“Rep. Mo Brooks helped to directly incite last week’s coup attempt and continues to undermine our democracy with baseless lies about a stolen election. Any companies that continue to provide him with financial support are giving tacit backing to insurrection and treason. As such, we are calling on all of his corporate contributors -- including Northrop Grumman and other high-profile companies -- to immediately stop all future contributions and demand refunds on their 2019-2020 donations.

“The reason for the companies to act couldn’t be clearer -- or more urgent. Rep. Brooks has endangered the future of our democracy by spreading baseless lies about election fraud as part of an effort to overturn the 2020 election. Not only was he the first member of Congress to say publicly that he would object to the certification of the electoral votes for President-elect Biden, but last week, he used inflammatory rhetoric to incite a rebellion at the U.S. Capitol that left five people dead and many injured. Even in the wake of this rampant destruction, Rep. Brooks defended his speech to the rioters, accepted no responsibility for his actions, and continued to spread those same falsehoods.

“As more information comes to light, the SPLC Action Fund will further demand corporate accountability against other members of Congress like Rep. Brooks. The leaders of corporate America, like all people of conscience, need to use every possible tool available to squash the growing attempt to undermine our democratic system by inciting the threat of insurrection. Companies hold enormous leverage in this respect -- without funding, politicians like Mo Brooks are virtually powerless. Already, many businesses have stepped up to stop contributions to insurrectionists holding public office. Now, donors to Rep. Brooks need to do the same. The fate of our country depends on it.”

Below is a full list of corporations and trade groups that gave an aggregate of $1,000 or more to Rep. Brooks from 2019 to 2020 according to the Federal Election Commission.
