SPLC Action Fund Applauds Alabama Senate Committee Action on 2025 Summer EBT Program Funding
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Today, the SPLC Action Fund applauded the Alabama Senate Finance and Taxation Education Committee for including essential funding for the 2025 Summer EBT program in the state’s education budget. Last year, state leaders failed to include funding for the program, which provides summer food aid for students during the summer, when free school breakfasts and lunches for students in need are not available.
“We are thrilled to see the state legislature provide the Department of Human Resources with the funding necessary to administer the 2025 Summer EBT program,” said Jerome Dees, Alabama policy director for the SPLC Action Fund. “This essential funding means thousands of children across the state will now have access to vital nutrition next summer.”
The FY 2025 Education Trust Fund Budget now goes to the Senate Floor for passage before the House determines whether to concur or go to conference committee.
